Reverend Dr. William C. King, Jr.

A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. King preached his trial sermon in 2000 and was subsequently ordained a minister in the A.M.E. Zion Church. He is a graduate of The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and Duquesne University Law School, having attained a Juris Doctor of Law in 1979. He was admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to practice law in 1979. He also attended the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and plans to pursue a Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary in January, 2018.

Dr. King distinguished himself in the practice of law for 28 years representing primarily those who were injured. In 2004 Dr. King retired from the practice of law to devote more time to serving God as a Pastor in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. 

Dr. King has been a Pastor for 17 years. His first pastoral appointment was in October, 2000 at Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Zion Church in Bedford, PA. He also served at West End A.M.E. Zion Church in Pittsburgh

and Greater Emmanuel A.M.E. Zion Church in Aliquippa where he pastored for 6 years until he was appointed by Bishop Louis Hunter Sr. to the Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in Youngstown, OH in October of 2012. Dr. King is a member of the Committee on Holy Orders for the Ohio Annual Conference and the treasurer for the Akron District of the A.M.E. Zion Church. Dr. King is a Justice on the Judicial Council of the A.M. E. Zion Church having been elected in 2012. He was previously a member from 2000-2004. Since becoming Pastor of Price Memorial, many improvements have been made to the church building and the parsonage. The parking lot was repaved and lined. Air conditioning has been placed in the parlor area and also downstairs in the fellowship hall. The downstairs fellowship hall and other areas in the church have been painted. In the secretary office carpeting and office furniture have been provided. The church sound system and internet have been upgraded. New drums were donated by a member of the church. The church and parsonage have had complete roof replacements. The inside of the parsonage has been remodeled. A van has been purchased for the church.

During the time Dr. King has been the Pastor, Price Memorial has hosted an Annual Conference and a Holy Conclave. Bishop Louis Hunter Sr. said the Holy Conclave held at Price Memorial was the best ever. Dr. King is activity member of the Youngstown Community as a member of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and the Robert’s Rule Club of Youngstown, OH. He has been active politically, in issues involving education and social justice.

He is a life member of the NAACP and on the Board of Directors for the Center that C.A.R.E.S., Inc., in Pittsburgh, PA.

He is devoted to his family which includes his wife of 39 years Ruthie Dian King, three adult children (Jason Clinton, William John-Lloyd, and Amanda Dian), three grandchildren (Jalen, Janel and Jaden). He is devoted to the care of his 93year old father, William Clinton King. Sr., who resides in Pittsburgh, PA.
