Monica S. Reed was born in Knoxville, TN on October 4, 1962 to Chester & Beaulah Reed. Monica S. Reed, is a native of Knoxville, TN. She is the proud mother of one son, Charles William Turner, Jr. and one grandson, Charles William Turner, III (C.J.).

Monica was educated in the Knoxville City School System where she graduates from Rule High School. She earned an A.S. Degree in Accounting, a second A.S Degree in Business Administration from South College in Knoxville, Tennessee and a B.S. degree in Management of Nonprofit Organization from Johnson University (formerly known as Johnson Bible College). Monica is currently employed with C.O.N.N.E.C.T Ministries where she has served as Program Director for the past three years. In addition, Monica is the owner of Baskets by Monica a gift basket business she started in January 2002.

Monica service as a lay person begins at the Logan Temple A.M.E. Zion church where she serves
in the capacities of Deaconess, Trustee, Church Anniversary Chairperson, and Lay Leader. Monica has served the local church in past seasons as Parent Body President, Coordinator of Spiritual Development, and Women’s Ministry Leader. She has served Tennessee Conference as Treasurer of the Tennessee Conference Lay Council and the Connectional Lay Council as Regional Director of the Midwest Episcopal Area.

Monica serves the Knoxville Community in several capacities: Board Member, Mabry Hazen House, Past President, Church Women United, Knoxville-Knox County Unit, Chairperson City of Knoxville, Blighted Properties Board, Board Member & Treasurer, Empowerment Zone, City of Knoxville, (PNI) Partnership for Neighborhood Improvement, Appointed by Vice Mayor and City Councilman Mark Brown, Morningside Heights Homeowners Association, Treasurer and Board Member.
